This is my family.  My children have traveled with me on my journey to become a teacher.  They motivate me to be a better person and to be an inspiration to them.  As they have grown, I have grown, and I look forward to continuing to grow with them.

My experience working as a Certified Education Assistant for SD73 has been crucial in my development as an individual and on my road to becoming a teacher.  It is through this that I made the official decision to start the process of gaining entrance into the Bachelor of Elementary Education program at Thompson Rivers University.  This experience has taught me the importance of being connected with students, and how important a relationship can be in impacting a child’s life.

One of my hobbies is painting.  I enjoy going to paint nights and painting at home.  Art is an aspect I am excited to incorporate into my future classrooms, with my future students.  For me, it has a calming aspect.  I understand it won’t be the same experience for all students, but I do believe it is important to introduce your students to a variety of activities so that they may discover what they enjoy, or may not enjoy.

My first practicum was in a Kindergarten class.  It was a great experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher mentor.  She was inspiring and full of information that enabled me to have a successful experience in her classroom.  At first, I struggled with taking the CEA hat off and looking through the eyes of a teacher.  However, I now understand that it should not be one or the other, but an opportunity to enhance my teaching because of my experience working as a CEA.
