I am excited to be entering the field of education shortly after the introduction of the new BC Curriculum. As I am learning about what the curriculum entails and how teachers are expected to use it, I feel grateful that it aligns so perfectly with my teaching philosophy. With the freedom to teach content in the way you chose, you can individualize teaching and learning to the individual. The Understand-Do-Know model is in every student’s best interest. Keeping teaching in line with the core competencies also promotes the students deep learning, of not only academic subjects but also socially and emotionally as well. We are entering a new fast-paced world. This curriculum provides the opportunity to meet the needs of all students in your classroom and beyond.
